We are excited to share that the Virginia Department of Historic Resources has approved our application for a new historic highway marker that preserves and memorializes the original name and highlights local African American activism that lead to the original construction of this school. This new marker will also serve as way-finding for stop #12 of the Invisible History of African Americans in Cape Charles VA Walking Tour. The new marker is expected to be installed by VDOT in late 2025.
